Summer of Suspense
When Phil, Abby, Andy, and Tom Baker hear that their cousin Millie will visit their farm for the summer, little do they imagine what a dreary time they will have with the snobbish girl. But when Millie disappears, life quickly becomes anything but dreary. What starts out as a summer of chores and horse-riding on the farm turns into a cross-country adventure, as the Bakers find themselves matching wits with a notorious jewelry thief who pulls them into her web. Aided by a seasoned detective, the Bakers confront numerous dangers in their search for Millie, all while attempting to foil the plot of a major crime ring — making it a summer they will never forget.
Filled with mystery and intrigue, Summer of Suspense is about Christian courage, humility, submission to authority, and repentance.

This is a tale of great imagination, with unusual and amusing ‘edge-of-your-seat’ twists. I stayed up late reading as each page brought more ‘what will they do now?’ intrigue that made it hard to put down. My daughters found it an exciting and fun story, with unusual storyline, accessible and suitable for ages 9-14.” – Mrs. S. Oliver
Peril on Providence Island
The Bakers are full of excitement as they head to the English countryside to celebrate Grandfather Wilson’s eightieth birthday. When an elderly neighbor with Alzheimer’s disease tells a tale of treasure lost on the high seas, the Bakers are sure she has confused reality with fiction. But as they find information that supports Old Marge’s story, they begin wondering whether there is truth in it after all.
Can the discovery of an ancient treasure help Old Marge stay in her beloved cottage and out of a nursing home? This question sends the Bakers on a swashbuckling adventure of mystery and peril, following an old diary through mysterious caves and a maze of clues in search of the missing treasure. Along the way, their quest is marked by amazing providences that point to this key conclusion: God’s ways are always right.

“This book was just as good as, if not better, than Summer of Suspense.
I really appreciate the strong, Biblical values Miss Hedgcock portrays throughout this whole series and I can’t wait to read more of her work.” – Bekah O’Brien, author of Martha’s Fun Summer
“You can’t help turning page after page, in fact several times I had to stop reading so that I would not read the whole book in one day! And it was certainly unpredictable. I would say the age range is about 10-13. Recommended for anyone who enjoys reading about family adventures with an air of mystery.” – Lily R.
Riddle of the Ruby Ring
The skies are clear, the weather is beautiful, and the Bakers are eager to welcome a new family, the Wilburs, to the farm next-door. Phil, Abby, Andy, and Tom Baker are learning how to relate to their new friends when they discover a mysterious crate hiding an ancient ruby ring which triggers strange activity on the Wilburs’ farm. A trail of clues leads to two conflicting stories of strife in the Old West, but it seems that the theft and aggression surrounding this ring haven’t stayed in the past. When the safety of both families is threatened, it’s up to the Bakers to figure out what is going on before it’s too late.
Can the Bakers bring an end to a legacy of conflict and restore honor to a tarnished family name? Can Andy learn the secret of his older brother’s courage? And, can they solve the baffling riddle of the ruby ring?

The Treacherous Trail
The Bakers and the Wilburs have become such good friends that they decide to vacation together at a lovely wilderness lodge. While the ladies and girls enjoy the lodge’s luxurious facilities, the men and boys go camping in the surrounding wild. They expect their greatest thrills to come from horse-riding, canoeing, and hiking, but the trip changes when they find an injured hiker. Then the hiker disappears with most of their supplies, and they’re stranded with little food, no communication, and a long trip back to civilization. What’s more — there are some very strange things going on in this forest, and the mysterious hiker seems to be at the center of them. Mr. Baker must get his team back to safety with no supplies or means of contact, saddled with a thief who will not speak. Phil is forced to act like a criminal when thrown into a company of bad men, and the twins must survive in the wilderness with a man they do not trust.
Who is really Jigson? What is going on in the forest? And will they come out alive?

Prisoner of the Pyrenees
The Bakers are minding their own business when Briosa Del Quera bursts into their lives. She is an orphaned Catalan girl who is still reeling from her grandfather’s death. His last words instructed her to find people called ‘Baker’ and get in contact with a secret agent they know—but Jigson has gone missing in suspicious circumstances and not even his agency is able to contact him.
Detective Mortimer says that Mr. Jigson was last seen in the Pyrenees mountains, and the Bakers are determined to find him and help Briosa get to the bottom of the plot against her grandfather. But as their journey through northern Spain becomes a breathless race to avoid villains and meet allies, they begin to wonder if Briosa has really told them everything. . . .
From a desperate car-chase to a stealthy escape from a Spanish fortress, the Bakers are tested to the limits of their courage and their trust in the Lord. Can they find Jigson and stop a global conspiracy, or will they all become prisoners of the Pyrenees?

“I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!
Caitlin Hedgcock always amazes me with her plot lines. They are new, intriguing, exciting, thrilling, interesting, CAPTIVATING, amusing, and thought provoking. This book is fairly thick, but I read it in every second of my spare time and finished it in a day or two… I had such a hard time putting it down.
This is the best Christian fiction book I have read in a loooooong time. I could tell y’all everything I love about this book, but I don’t want to spoil it! I highly encourage you to get one for yourself and figure out why so many people love them so very much! :D” – Amazon Customer

Three incidents throw the trip into a spiral of confusion, and, scattered across Scotland, the Bakers have clues that don’t seem to belong to the same puzzle. My daughter has read one of the series and LOVES them, wanting to get the rest!
We are on book three and enjoying every minute. We read it together and love how our children can relate to the charecters in your story. Thank you for writing Christian books that we can all enjoy together. We have two questions. Were you homeschooled and do you have more books in the making? Thank you for all your hours of work.Take care.
Blessings,
The McKenzies
Thank you for sharing this feedback; I am always greatly blessed to hear how the Lord has used the books in real lives and families.
To answer your first question, I went to a private Christian school in my early years and transitioned to homeschooling from eighth grade onwards. As for writing, yes! I am working on a historical novel right now and hope to revisit the Baker family sometime in the future.
God bless!
I have the first two books of the Baker Family Adventures and didn’t know there were more books to the series until now. I really want the other three books to complete the series. I also hope you can keep adding on to the series. I really like reading the books.
Hi Veronica,
Thank you for the comment! If it’s easier, the books are also available on Amazon Kindle here: (http://goo.gl/WIMVJI) Here is the UK equivalent: (http://goo.gl/l6bNeG)

My daughter just started reading your books. She is 10 and loves to read every minute of her spare time. So it can be challenging to provide enough wholesome books for her. THANK YOU, for your books. Please keep writing more for kids. Waiting in anticipation for your next book. May God Bless you tremendously for providing these wholesome books for our children to read.
Tammy Kainz
Thank you for that amazing feedback! It warms my heart 🙂 I’m so grateful that the books have been a blessing to your daughter, and that you got in touch to let me know.
SDG!
Dear Caitlin,
Our family loves your books! When I first read Summer of Suspense, I decided it was the most exciting book I had read since Lord of the Rings. 🙂
There are so many aspects of your books that we enjoy. The the element of family, the horses, their steadfast faith in God, their good examples, and over it all, the edge-of-your-seat adventure, the plot twists…the list could go on and on.
When Prisoner of the Pyrenees came out, I read it aloud with my 8-year-old sister, and she loved it. We lent the books to another family (close friends of ours), and they loved them so much they bought their own copies. I’m so thankful for your work in making these family adventures, and I pray that God will bless you in your life and in your writing.
You’re also an inspiration to me in my own amateur efforts at writing. 🙂 I loved your blog post about your writing process.
Thank you for what you do, and we can’t wait for another Baker Family book! The last one left us on such a cliffhanger!
In Christ,
Elizabeth
Dear Elizabeth,
Wow! Thank you for the lovely message. I am thrilled that you’ve enjoyed the series, and specifically those elements that I’ve been consciously aiming to cultivate. It’s a privilege to hear from readers, and to know the Lord has answered my prayer that the books would be a blessing to them.
I encourage you to keep on with your writing! It’s wonderful that our written words can touch so many more people than we are likely to meet.
May the Lord bless you!
When is the 6 book coming out me and a friend really like your books And can’t wait till the sixth book

Thanks for your message, John. I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed the books and are eager for more!
God bless 🙂
Are you going to keep writing more Baker books? I would so love it if you did.
Thanks!
That’s so great to hear, John. Yes, I’m hoping to have book #7 published this year! 🙂
Do you know what you are going to name book #7?
😀 Not quite yet! I will be looking at using a different letter of the alphabet and a word that matches it to keep the alliteration theme going. Naming the books is fun, especially as the titles normally emerge as I write.
I LOVE your books.I got book 1 for Christmas and bought the rest. They inspired me to write Christian mystery novels.I’m working on the second draft. My favorite characters from your books are Phil,Andy,Detective Mortimer and Jigson. When will you release book 7?Are you allowed to tell?

Thank you for the note, Parker! It’s wonderful to hear that you’re writing your own Christian mysteries, and are on the second draft already. Keep it up 🙂

Hi C. R.! I’ve read all of the Baker’s adventures (1-6 multiple times) and LOVE them! I’m always on the edge of my seat! I noticed in November you said Lord willing you’ll write another. Do you know when that will be? I can’t get enough of them! I want to know more about Jigson and Miss Vernon’s background. I also saw on another post that you wrote a historical novel a while ago. I’d love to read it as well and anything else you’ve written! Where would I find it? Your books are very encouraging and I like to see how the family grows through their unplanned, scary, and sometimes near death experiences. I also think they’re some of the most well written books I’ve ever read. May God be glorified in your work.
Hi Katie,
Thank you for your lovely message; that was a blessing to read! Amen, may He be glorified. I do not yet know when Baker 8 will be finished, but I am working on it and will be sure to announce its arrival here on this website. You have to wright a 9 book! I think this is the best series I’ve ever read! And I have read a lot of books!
Thank you, Taylor; what an honour! I’m blessed to hear that! 🙂
You wrote in the 8th book that the Bakers grandparents live in Wyoming, where do the Bakers live? You said it was a two hour ride to there grandparents farm.
I just finished reading “Rescue in the Rockies” and loved the book! For a while, “Prisoner of the Pyranees” was my favorite, but now “Rescue in the Rockies” is shaping up to be my new favorite! I was just wondering, will you be coming out with a 9th book? If so, when?
Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for that feedback, Kirsten! It’s fun to hear which of the books people like and why 🙂
I’m not sure yet regarding a 9th book — it would be great to see what the Bakers get up to next, but I doubt it would be particularly soon I’m afraid. Thank you for asking, though!
Hi there Miss Hedgcock!
I know you’re very busy, so I completely understand if you aren’t able to respond to this comment ❤
I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for all of your hard work over the years and your dedication to producing quality christian literature that honors the Lord and edifies others. You have no idea what a breath of fresh air it is to have something good and Christ-focused for kids/adults/teens to read which motivate people to continue steadfastly after the Lord, build lives on Christ, nourish and forge strong family/sibling relationships, and be a witness — no matter where we are.
I love reading and re-reading the Baker Family Series…. Honestly, they read like movies! All of my siblings love them and we are so thrilled whenever a new one is in the works. 🙂
Also, you are one of the main authors who have inspired me to write. I am mainly an artist and illustrator right now, but it's always been a dream of mine to craft good, wholesome literature for children as well. Lord willing, that'll become a reality at some point. ❤
Thanks so much again!
Praying for you…
Your sister in Christ Jesus,
Callie Sullivan
Callie, thank you so very much for your comment! It is such a blessing to hear how the Lord has answered my simple prayers for the books, that they would be a blessing to others. 🙂 May He lead and guide you in all of your creative endeavours! Art in its many forms is so impactful; what a joy to be gifted in this way and using it for Him!
Please excuse my delay: I am very busy indeed, but it’s a pleasure to read such kind words even if I can’t reply in a timely manner. Thank you, and may the Lord bless you! ❤
You should post pictures of what the Bakers look like!
Yes!
You should ask someone to make movies of your books!
I wholeheartedly agree!! Someone should make movies…BUT, they would need to be rendered accurately (to a “T”), done high-quality, and (assuming several movies would need to be made– one for each book) not dropped midway! ❤
Is there going to be a 9th book?!?!?
Yes!! There needs to be a 9th . . . Briosa & Phil’s courtship needs to happen, Andy’s piloting career needs to “take off” (pun intended LOL ❤ ), and so many other things . . . .
I have read the first 3 and the fourth is on the way. Are you going to write a ninth book?
I’ve been reading and re-reading your books for years and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!! I can’t wait to see what’s next after Rescue… Did you publish the historical novel you talked about awhile ago? I’d love to read anything you’ve written!!
