Wow! There are 99 comments so far on the “Announcing Baker 7” post! Thank you for sending great suggestions for the next adventure and asking the questions you’d love to have answered. It’s a privilege to hear your thoughts, find out about your favorite characters (some of which are surprising!), and tap into your creative ideas π
Now for a question.
What COLOR do you think Baker #7 will be?
Here’s a handy view of book covers 1-6 for reference. We’ve had:
1&2: Golden yellow-brown and burnt orange
3&4: Light navy blue and aquamarine
5&6: Green and deep purple
Let me know in the comments! It might be that your thoughts are running along the same lines as the design plans π

How about a silver color?
It’s funny you mention that — I had thought about how a silvery gray would match Scotland’s overcast skies and mysterious fogs π
In print, silver could look more like grayscale, and I was concerned it might appear bland next to the others. It’s fun to have shared the same idea, though!
Maybe even a burgundy? π
Hi,
For book #7, I think you should make the cover a brighter purple because usually you always do two of the same colors in a row. For example, Summer of Suspense and Peril on Providence Island are almost the same color.
That’s very observant of you, John! π In a way, Prisoner and Iceland share continuity because of the green element in both.
Brighter purple might feature in the future, though!
Maybe a smoky blue, something mysterious…
My sister thinks it will be pink.
Well technically, my sister had a dream that the next book would be Pink and be called “Eagle’s Escape”. Now that I think about it, that could go with the whole falconry idea…
Perhaps a cool green/light green? Maybe neon green….you could do a turquoise-light green blend, kind of like you did with Iceland Intrigue.
Something mysterious and misty sounds cool. You might could do silver, black, and blue, or silver with 2 different blue-tones, or even dark browns and light blues….or something along those lines. just suggestions:):)
I think you’re doing a fantastic job, and whatever colors you come up with will be awesome!!:D:D
A silver with two different tones of the same color sounds like a great idea. π
I think a yellow with a Scottish sunset behind the Wallace memorial maybe?
I like that idea, Savannah!
That would be really cool!:)
Thank you Jubilee and Callie! I think y’all’s ideas are really neat as well.
That’s a great idea! πAs long as the Wallace memorial is used as a scene in the book, because all of the other books in the series have a scene from the book or the main setting of the book as their front cover.π
My sisters think it should have some pink. I really like how Iceland Intrigue had two contrasting colors on the cover….purple and green. It looked really neat.
The two contrasting colors on Iceland Intrigue did look nice.π
Hmm, pink and dark red
What about a dark, forest green, highlighted by a chestnut brown for a book color? Just a suggestion.πππ
I was thinking the same thing! Silver would be cool too though (maybe with the dark, forest green?). π
That sounds like a nice transition from the cover on Iceland Intrigue. Burgundy might even be a good shade to use in place of brown to brighten up the book cover.π
I think the color should be golden-yellow-brown and burnt orange
Maybe a soft lavender and a lemon yellow accented with silver?
That sounds very pretty!
That would be really pretty!
I think the only color left is pink, but I tend to think of books’ color based on what they’re like, not from the cover, so I’m not sure what color it should be! I’m looking forward to reading it! π
I liked the idea of dark green and brown, burgundy was a good idea too. They kind of reminded me of Scottish plaid… What about a heather color? Pinkish purple against a dark green and maybe that dash of silver that you had in mind? I noticed that all of the books have silhouettes on their covers, which might make the heather color hard to fit in.
The design I have in mind would be the silhouette of a castle rising out of a silver fog with some heather in a valley at the base, and a falcon flying above the outline of a person. This is me unashamedly dreaming…
Thanks for everything you do! And thank you so much for letting your readers put their “two cents” in (as the saying goes).
That’s pretty!
That’s a pleasure, Emily; thanks for your ideas! π
I would say a whitish cream colour
There are lots of good thoughts here! Some of them are similar to the current colour ideas for #7, and some of them *may* weave their way into the final look. Let’s see when the time comes!
Thank you all for participating π
I think a lavender/gray or maybe lavender/gray/misty blue would be ‘awsome’ as Seth Wilbur would say.Lol. You havn’t used yellow.
I can’t wait to read book seven though.
After reading the sneak peak, I imagine the book being yellow.
or a shade of brown
What about a sky blue and light yellow
How about a rosy-grey?
I think purple and green would be fitting wit Scotland’s moors. Particularly the heather. π
