Your Questions Part 4 and Reverse Q&A!

Hello everyone! 🙂

It’s been a while since I did a Q&A post here (sorry about that). Many of you were intrigued by the idea of a reverse Q&A, where I ask you things I’m curious about. So after tackling a few of your questions, I’ll ask you some of my own!

1) Will the Predzels be in any future books?

I’m not sure yet. I haven’t planned to include them, but they may appear in a future story if they could help the main characters.

2) Did Sigurd get Gleym back?

Yes, definitely. 🙂 I love the fact that you remembered to ask about her!

3) Do we know what happened to Jigson’s parents?

Oh, I can’t wait for you to read Hunting in the Highlands! The answer is yes!

4) How much of the Hrein Orka in Iceland Intrigue is based on real science, and how much is fiction?

It’s mainly fiction … but who knows? Maybe there are principles of it that someone has yet to discover 😉

5) What is the significance of ‘Twelve Lemons’?

It’s a phrase with quite a personal meaning for Jigson and Detective Mortimer – otherwise it wouldn’t have guaranteed Jigson’s identity in Iceland Intrigue.

Is it part of a big mystery? Or is it something more innocuous? Will they spill the beans in Book 8? … Maybe!

6) When you wrote Hunting the Highlands did you plan out the whole book before you started writing?

Yes. I did make a careful plan so that the book would progress with logical structure and so I would know where the story was going – it had the potential to be quite confusing with characters splitting up and traipsing all over Scotland.

But the need to be flexible arose when I reached the end and realized that the climax was not right for the story … so a whole new ending had to be written!

Do you have burning questions for a future post? Send them via the contact page!

Now … here are my questions for you! 🙂

1. Who are your top 2 favourite male characters?

2. Who are your top 2 female characters?

3. Who is your favourite villain? (Miss Verton, Lewis Nickel, Bud Larone, Rolf/escaped convicts, Dainn, Herr Klaus, or someone else?)

4. Which is your favourite title in the series, and why?

5. Should one of the characters be in a relationship/courtship? Who and why? (I’m not promising anything by asking this 😉 I’m genuinely curious! 🙂 )

I look forward to finding out what you think! 🙂

  1. Neat! I just changed my name to the celtic/medival spelling (my name is Leah but I also spell it Lieya) because I just realised I have way to many usernames and pen names and I don’t even know who I am anymore! I have to try to work with my wordpress account, and this is way easier. Just so y’all know it’s still me!

  2. These are my storylines:
The bakers are back from Scotland and plunged straight into another adventure. Abby and Briosa find Jigson in a wrecked car. He has been shot by a lethal poison bullet and there is no antidote. Phil and Andy decide to go to Sweden to find a way to help him (he mentioned it before he passed out), but Abby is accidentally shut in the trunk, so she ends up coming along too. Phil is kidnapped at the airport, and Jigson escapes from hospital and finds Abby and Andy. Meanwhile Alistair shows up at the Baker’s front door and is alarmed when he finds out that Phil, Abby and Andy have gone to Sweden. Phil wakes up with Rolf at Miss Verton’s new HQ, and is taken before her. they shoot verses at her and she is terrified, she sends them to ominous room 3…
    To definitely be continued….

  3. We talked about quotes and things, some two hundred comments ago but this is my favorite by S.M Lockridge;
    The Bible says
He’s the King of the Jews
    He’s the King of Israel
    He’s the King of Righteousness
He’s the King of the Ages
    He’s the King of Heaven
    He’s the King of Glory
    He’s the King of Kings
and He is the Lord of Lords

    Now that’s my King!
    David says
The Heavens declare the glory of God
And the firmament showeth His handiwork
No means of measure can define His limitless love
No far seeing telescope can bring into visibility the coastline of His shoreless supply
No barriers can hinder Him from pouring out His blessing

    He’s enduringly strong
    He’s entirely sincere
    He’s eternally steadfast
    He’s immortally graceful
    He’s imperially powerful
    He’s impartially merciful

    That’s my King!
    He’s God’s Son
    He’s the sinners’ Saviour
    He’s the centrepiece of civilisation
    He stands alone in Himself
    He’s august
    He’s unique
    He’s unparalleled
    He’s unprecedented
    He’s supreme
    He’s pre-eminent
He’s the loftiest idea in literature
He’s the highest personality in philosophy
He’s the supreme problem in higher criticism
He’s the fundamental doctrine in true theology
He’s the cardinal necessity of spiritual religion

    That’s my King!
He’s the miracle of the age
He’s the superlative of everything good that you choose to call Him
He’s the only one able to supply all of our needs simultaneously
He supplies strength for the weak
He’s available for the tempted and the tried
    He sympathises and He saves
    He guards and He guides
    He heals the sick
    He cleansed the lepers
    He forgives sinners
    He discharges debtors
    He delivers the captives
    He defends the feeble
    He blesses the young
    He serves the unfortunate
    He regards the aged
    He rewards the diligent
    And He beautifies the meek

    Do you know Him?
My King is the key of knowledge
    He’s the wellspring of wisdom
    He’s the doorway of deliverance
    He’s the pathway of peace
    He’s the roadway of righteousness
    He’s the highway of holiness
    He’s the gateway of glory
He’s the master of the mighty
He’s the captain of the conquerors
He’s the head of the heroes
He’s the leader of the legislators
He’s the overseer of the overcomers
    He’s the governor of governors
    He’s the prince of princes
    He’s the King of Kings
And He’s the Lord of Lords

    That’s my King
    That’s my King!
    My King
    His office is manifold
    His promise is sure
    His life is matchless
    His goodness is limitless
    His mercy is everlasting
    His love never changes
    His word is enough
    His grace is sufficient
    His reign is righteous
    His yoke is easy
    and His burden is light
I wish I could describe Him to you
    He’s indescribable
    He’s indescribable
    He’s incomprehensible
    He’s invincible
    He’s irresistible
    I’m trying to tell you
The heaven of heavens cannot contain Him
Let alone a man explain Him
You can’t get Him out of your mind
You can’t get Him off of your hands
    You can’t outlive Him
And you can’t live without Him
    The Pharisees couldn’t stand Him
but they found out they couldn’t stop Him
Pilate couldn’t find any fault in Him
The witnesses couldn’t get their testimonies to agree
    And Herod couldn’t kill Him
    Death couldn’t handle Him
And the grave couldn’t hold Him

    That’s my King!
    He always has been
    And He always will be
    I’m talking about
    He had no predecessor
    and He’ll have no successor
    There was nobody before Him
and there’ll be nobody after Him
    You can’t impeach Him
and He’s not going to resign

    That’s my King!
    Praise the Lord
    That’s my King
    Thine is the Kingdom
    And the power
    And the glory
    The glory is all His
    Thine is the Kingdom
    And the power
    And the glory
    For ever
    And ever
    And ever
And when you get through with all of the forevers
    Then
    Amen

  4. I would cry if any of them died! Except maybe Lachlan…….. I wouldn’t mind too much then. But yes with everyone else, even the villains.

    • Lachlan is, well, an amazing villain. Miss Hedgcock hasn’t had anyone like that so far, except maybe Del Quera. The main villain, (Miss Verton) is smart, but she is over confident, extremely conceited, more than slightly prideful, and has a cruel side to her. Herr Klause is similar, proud, doesn’t think that anything can go wrong, acts like he owns the world, (which he probably does to a point) and is quite childishly selfish. Garth is (or at least was) conflicted, confused, didn’t know his own mind, didn’t really have a main thread in his work, doesn’t know why he does things etc. Dainn is similar to Garth, and as we already had an amazing description of him in Iceland Intrigue, which, to be honest is one of the most epic descriptions I have ever read, I don’t or rather won’t attempt to add anything. Lachlan however, he is what I call a type three villain. (I don’t know if I mentioned this before, in a nutshell, there are three main types of villains. Type 1 is somewhat like Herr Klause, just a bug bully who is none to sharp and works by brawn rather than brain, type 2 is someone like Garth and Dainn who are conflicted in what they do, and are more of weak villains with a soft side to them, but are still dangerous. However these villains often turn out as hero’s or at least not antagonists by the end of the story. The third type is my favourite. (I’m writing a book with one of these villains right now) These villains are the masterminds. They are often very cool, calm, and collected. They always have everything under control, and keep tight rein on everything. These villains are the hardest to catch or bring to justice. They have their whole operations completely airtight. Type 3 villains often use type 1 villains to do their work for them. They are often very cruel and sarcastic.) So after that long explanation, Lachlan is defiantly a type 3 villain. Del Quera was too, but he was different than Lachlan. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there is something about Lachlan that, well, scares me. 🙂

  5. I would cry if anyone died except

    Lachlan
    Herr Klause
Tristan, (unless it was very pathetic and he died a awful death. Tristan is a weak villains, and you feel sorry for weak villains.

I would defiantly cry if Miss Verton died though.

      • *sheepish laugh* No I’m the same old Leah. I just used the other spelling for my name. I tried to explain about 1500 comments ago, but I have so many user names, that I wanted to narrow down. So I fiddled around on my wordpress account a bit and now it has stopped calling me different names. If you ever see me comment accidentally as either

        Leah
        Lieya
        Elizabeth
        Elizabeth Reynolds
        Lizzy

You’ll know it’s me. I just have a lot of pen names:) But my real name is just Leah.

      • Everyone has their own little quirks… That’s what makes the world unique:) Hey, that was a neat quote actually!

    • Yeah, I would too if Miss Verton died. That would be horrible! Herr Klaus–I’d feel slightly sad, I mean, for Rolf…

  6. Here is a poem by Boethius that I LOVE

O Father, give the spirit power to climb to the fountain of all light and be purified
Break through the mists of earth, the weight of the clod
Show forth in splendour, Thou that art quiet weather and calm resting place for faithful souls
To see Thee is the end and the beginning
Thou carries us, and You dost go before
Thou are the journey, and the journey’s end

  7. Hello guys, I’m new hear.
I read Miss Hedgcocks books, and they are sooooo totally awesome!
My 2 favorite male characters are Detective Mortimer and Jigson (Haelix), and my two favorite female characters are Cassidy and of course BRIOSA! They are too awesome. My favorite villain is Miss Verton. But it’s so hard to pick my favorite series!! Weeeeeeeeeell, if I’d have to choose it would probably be Prisoner of the Pyrenees (because of all of the action in there). Oh, and friendships, I think Rolf is for Abby and Phil is for Briosa!!!!!!
Hope everybody gets a chance to read the BFA series. They’re totally worth the time! :))))
